About Trinity Institute of Education

What is the Trinity Institute of Education (TIE)?

Trinity Institute of Education is a collaborative group of partners (which may include schools from any phase or sector, universities and other educational bodies) who work together to deliver teacher training programmes.

TIE’s designated partner school is Trinity Academy, Halifax, acknowledged by Ofsted as an outstanding provider.

The alliance of 57 partner primary and secondary schools across West Yorkshire collaborates to provide exceptional teacher training for those candidates who demonstrate a genuine passion and aptitude for teaching and working with young people.

What we offer…

Initial Teacher Training (ITT)

One of the region’s largest school based providers, we offer excellent initial teacher training for candidates with the potential to be outstanding. Over 98% of our trainees are deemed to be good or better, and 50% of our host schools recruit their trainees at the end of their placements – a superb outcome for everyone!

Our partnership as an Associate College of the National Institute of Teaching is further strengthened locally across Calderdale and Kirklees through our work alongside Calderdale and Kirklees Teaching School Hub based at the Ofsted rated Outstanding Shelley College and with Yorkshire Rose Teaching Partnership based at Batley Multi Academy Trust.  Together we are able to offer expertise and experience from colleagues and schools across the full age spectrum from outstanding settings.

National Professional Qualifications (NPQs)

NPQ’s are available for teachers and leaders who want to develop their skills in school leadership and specialist areas of teaching practice.

Early Career Framework (ECF)

The ECF recognises the importance of high-quality induction training and the integral role of the Mentor in ECTs’ development.  It provides funding, resources, support and training to facilitate this.  Further information is available here

School Improvement Support (SIS)

The TIE has a task force of leaders, teachers and school practitioners – all qualified experts in their own fields – ready to support any school that needs a helping hand with teaching, learning and outcomes.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

High quality, relevant and effective CPD is vital to help schools and practitioners to be the best they can be and to secure the most valuable educational experience and outcomes for every learner. Our wide-ranging and cost-effective CPD (including Teacher Subject Specialism Training) is available to individual practitioners as well as schools.
